New eye gel aims to take the sting out of Vision-Saving injections

NCT ID NCT07456826

Summary

This study is testing if a new numbing gel (chloroprocaine) works as well as the current standard method (eye drops plus a small injection) to reduce pain during eye injections for conditions like macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease. About 236 adults who regularly get these injections will be randomly assigned to receive either the new gel or the standard method. The main goal is to see if the gel provides similar pain relief, and researchers will also check for side effects and changes in dry eye symptoms.
