New eye membrane offers hope to halt blinding disease

NCT ID NCT05909735

Summary

This study tested a new surgical approach for a condition called limbal stem cell deficiency, which can lead to blindness. Doctors transplanted a thin, clear membrane from a donor cornea onto the surface of the eye in 19 patients. The goal was to see if this membrane could act as a supportive scaffold to help the eye's surface heal and improve vision.
