First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This Phase 2 trial tests a drug called belzupacap sarotalocan (AU-011) for people whose cancer has spread to the choroid, the layer of blood vessels in the eye. The drug is injected into the eye and then activated with a laser. The study aims to see if it is safe and can shrink or control the tumor. It involves 24 participants and will test different doses.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
belzupacap sarotalocan (AU-011) with laser activation
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a new treatment option for people with eye cancer that has spread from another part of the body, potentially controlling tumor growth without removing the eye.
What could go wrong
This is an early Phase 2 trial with only 24 people, so results may not apply to everyone. The treatment involves a laser and injection into the eye, which carries risks like infection or vision changes.
