New study tests if hunting extra triggers improves AFib ablation success
NCT ID NCT07197931
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study compares two ablation procedures for people with persistent atrial fibrillation (AFib). The standard method isolates the pulmonary veins, while the experimental method also looks for and burns extra triggers outside those veins. About 406 adults having their first AFib ablation will be randomly assigned to one of the two groups. The goal is to see if the extra step reduces the return of abnormal heart rhythms.
