New surgery aims to stop spinal cord injuries from getting worse

Summary

This study tests a surgical procedure called expansive duraplasty, with or without a nerve graft, to reduce additional damage after a severe spinal cord injury. Ten adults with acute cervical or thoracic spinal cord injury will receive the surgery within 48 hours of injury. The goal is to see if the procedure is safe and helps improve independence and neurological function over 12 months.
