Students walk in fat suits to fight medical bias
NCT ID NCT07430891
Summary
This study tested if a brief, hands-on experience could help reduce weight bias in students training for healthcare jobs. 107 students were split into groups: some did a communication module, some exercised on a treadmill, and some exercised while wearing a special suit that simulated the feeling of carrying extra weight. Researchers measured the students' attitudes and decision-making skills before and after to see if the suit experience led to more empathy and better care for future patients with larger bodies.
