Arm squeeze before lifting weights may protect older Women's hearts

NCT ID NCT07497659

Summary

This study tested whether a simple technique called ischemic preconditioning—briefly squeezing the arm with a blood pressure cuff—could reduce heart strain after weight training in women over 60. Thirty active, healthy older women performed weightlifting sessions after either the real squeezing technique or a fake, low-pressure version. Researchers measured blood pressure and heart rate to see if the technique made exercise recovery safer for the heart.
