Born too soon, Can't get fit: study probes exercise resistance
NCT ID NCT06334107
Summary
This study aims to understand why some young adults born very prematurely don't see fitness improvements from standard aerobic exercise. Researchers will compare 60 inactive adults, some born preterm and some at term, to look for differences in their cells' energy-producing components (mitochondria) and genetic material. The goal is to identify biological markers that explain this poor response to training, which could guide future approaches to help this group gain health benefits from exercise.
