Gut bacteria may hold key to boosting exercise benefits for blood sugar

NCT ID NCT07180446

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study looks at how gut bacteria affect the body's response to exercise, especially for blood sugar control. Overweight or obese men aged 18-40 will exercise 5 days a week for 12 weeks and take a daily gut health supplement (sodium butyrate) for the last 4 weeks. Researchers will test blood and stool samples to see if the supplement helps those who don't get enough benefit from exercise alone.
