Simple foot exercises may ease nerve pain in diabetics

NCT ID NCT05422235

First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study looked at whether adding foot and ankle exercises to regular aerobic exercise (like walking) can improve muscle strength and reduce nerve pain in people with type 2 diabetes who have nerve damage in their feet. 74 adults were split into three groups: one continued their usual medical care, one added aerobic exercise, and one added both aerobic and foot exercises. After 12 weeks of training and 12 more weeks of follow-up, researchers measured ankle stiffness, muscle strength, and nerve pain symptoms to see which approach worked best.
