Pumping iron to pump up your brain: new study tests fast exercise against dementia risk

NCT ID NCT07444554

Summary

This study is testing whether a 12-week program of fast-paced strength training can improve brain health in older adults at risk for Alzheimer's disease. Researchers want to see if this specific type of exercise improves blood flow to the brain and thinking skills like memory and processing speed. Sixty adults aged 60-79 with risk factors for dementia will be randomly assigned to either do the supervised exercise program three times a week or continue their usual activities for comparison.
