Can a workout fight breast cancer cells? new study investigates
NCT ID NCT07439458
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at how a single session of aerobic exercise—either moderate or high intensity—affects breast cancer cells in the lab. Researchers will take blood from breast cancer survivors before and after exercise, then see if that blood slows the growth of breast cancer cells. They will also measure proteins released during exercise that might fight cancer. The goal is to understand which type of exercise might be best for cancer survivors.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
aerobic exercise (high or moderate intensity)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help identify the best exercise type and intensity to potentially slow breast cancer cell growth in survivors.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study (40 people) looking at lab effects, not patient outcomes. Results may not translate to real-world cancer control or apply to all breast cancer types.
