Aggressive treatment tested for rare bone cancer that spreads

NCT ID NCT03011528

Summary

This study tested an intensive chemotherapy approach for Ewing sarcoma that had already spread beyond the lungs at diagnosis. It involved 45 patients aged 2-50 who received strong induction chemotherapy followed by high-dose chemotherapy with stem cell support. The goal was to see if this aggressive treatment could improve survival for patients with this difficult-to-treat form of cancer.
