New ultrasound technique aims to predict liver trouble before it starts
NCT ID NCT04155398
First seen Mar 22, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study looks at a new way to measure liver and spleen stiffness using an ultrasound done through the stomach (EUS elastography). The goal is to see if this method can better predict serious liver problems like bleeding or fluid buildup in people with chronic liver disease. About 50 adults with signs of liver scarring or cirrhosis will take part. The approach may be more accurate than current methods, especially in people who are overweight.
