Could a simple balloon pump save more hearts on ECMO?

Summary
This study tests whether adding a balloon pump early to reduce pressure on the heart improves survival and recovery in adults on ECMO for severe cardiogenic shock. About 298 participants will be randomly assigned to early unloading or standard care with rescue unloading only if needed. The goal is to see if this approach reduces deaths, complications, and time on breathing or heart support machines.
