NCT ID NCT07059754
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This small study tests a device that cools the eye surface to see if it helps people with chronic eye pain. Five participants will get a single 4-minute cold treatment and be followed for 12 weeks. Researchers will take pictures of the eye's nerves and collect tear samples to look for changes in inflammation and structure.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
ETX-4143 topical ophthalmic cooling device
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a non-drug way to ease chronic eye pain by cooling the eye surface.
What could go wrong
This is a very early, tiny study with only 5 people. It is designed to see if the device is safe and worth studying further, not to prove it works. The results may not apply to everyone with eye pain.
