Smart pen tested to help arthritis patients stick with treatment

NCT ID NCT05891600

Summary

This study looked at whether a smart electronic device for injecting the rheumatoid arthritis drug etanercept helps patients take their medication more consistently. Researchers reviewed the medical records of 60 patients in Colombia over 40 weeks to see if using the device improved their adherence and their arthritis symptoms. The study did not test a new cure, but rather a tool to help manage the chronic condition with existing medication.
