Estrogen exposure may determine pituitary tumor size in women

NCT ID NCT07268183

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looks at whether women who had more estrogen exposure (from birth control, hormone therapy, pregnancy, or early puberty) are more likely to develop large prolactin-secreting pituitary tumors instead of small ones. Researchers will compare the estrogen histories of 180 women with either large or small tumors. The goal is to understand why some tumors grow larger, which could help with future prevention or treatment.
