First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study compares a new, less invasive test called the esophageal string test (EST) to standard methods for diagnosing H. pylori, a stomach bacteria that can cause ulcers and cancer. About 25 adults with persistent H. pylori infection will swallow a capsule with a string that collects stomach fluids. Researchers will check if the string test accurately detects the infection and antibiotic resistance genes, potentially offering a simpler alternative to endoscopy.
