Drugs first, surgery last: new hope to spare esophagus in cancer fight

NCT ID NCT07317609

Summary

This study is testing whether giving cancer-fighting drugs before a procedure can shrink tumors enough to allow doctors to remove esophageal cancer using a scope through the mouth, avoiding major surgery to remove the esophagus. It will involve about 60 adults with a specific type of esophageal cancer. The main goals are to see if this approach is safe and feasible, and if it successfully allows patients to keep their esophagus.
