Massive 90,000-Person study aims to improve early detection of esophageal cancer

NCT ID NCT04312633

Summary

This study is collecting data over 5 years to compare two methods doctors use to take small tissue samples from the esophagus during routine endoscopy procedures. Researchers want to see which method better helps predict which patients with heartburn might develop Barrett's esophagus (a condition that can lead to cancer) and which patients with Barrett's might develop precancer or cancer. The study involves 90,000 adults who are already having both types of biopsies as part of their standard medical care.
