New test may cut unnecessary scopes for esophagus cancer risk
NCT ID NCT05778851
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a non-invasive device (EsoCheck) and a biomarker test (EsoGuard) can help doctors decide who really needs an upper endoscopy to check for Barrett's esophagus, a condition that can lead to cancer. 97 doctors reviewed patient cases and made referral decisions before and after learning about the test results. The goal was to see if the test changes how often doctors refer patients for the more invasive scope procedure.
