First seen May 11, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tested whether a drug called esketamine causes fewer disturbing side effects than standard ketamine when used for severe pain in the emergency room. 74 adults with severe acute pain received either esketamine or ketamine through an IV. The main goal was to see how many patients experienced side effects like dizziness, hallucinations, or feeling unreal. Researchers also measured how well each drug relieved pain.
