Breakthrough nasal spray tested for rapid relief in teens with severe depression and suicidal thoughts

NCT ID NCT07227454

Summary

This study is testing whether a nasal spray called esketamine, when added to standard mental health care, can quickly reduce severe depression and suicidal thoughts in teenagers. It will compare the spray to a placebo (a look-alike treatment with no active drug) in about 258 teens who are experiencing an acute mental health crisis. The main goal is to see if the treatment leads to a significant improvement in depression symptoms within 24 hours.
