Sleep tests reveal hidden side effect of cancer surgery

NCT ID NCT01843218

Summary

This study aimed to better understand how common erectile dysfunction is after rectal cancer treatment. Researchers used special sleep monitoring devices to measure nighttime erections in 12 men who had surgery for early-stage rectal cancer. The goal was to get objective data about this often-overlooked side effect to help distinguish between physical causes and emotional factors.
