Summary
This study tests whether a patient's own stem cells (iPS cells) can repair damaged lung tissue in a lab dish. Researchers will take small lung samples from 50 people—COPD patients, smokers without COPD, and non-smokers—and grow them in the lab. They will then add stem cells to see if the lung cells heal faster. The goal is to understand how stem cells might help repair lungs, which could lead to future treatments for COPD.
