Which numbing shot hurts less before your epidural?
NCT ID NCT06236126
Summary
This study aimed to find out which method of giving a numbing shot causes less pain right before placing the epidural needle during labor. Researchers compared injecting lidocaine just under the skin versus into a deeper skin layer in 51 women in labor. They measured pain using patient ratings and by observing facial expressions and body movements to see which approach was more comfortable.
