Could a simple Add-On to epidurals prevent Post-C-Section bladder problems?

NCT ID NCT06442995

Summary

This study is testing whether adding magnesium sulfate to the standard epidural medication given during a C-section can help prevent a painful condition called urinary retention, where new mothers struggle to empty their bladder after delivery. About 290 women having C-sections will be randomly assigned to receive either the magnesium addition or a placebo (saltwater) with their epidural. Researchers will then monitor the women for 72 hours to see if the magnesium reduces the need for a catheter and helps with normal urination.
