Omega-3s may boost muscle in COPD patients
NCT ID NCT01624792
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study looked at whether taking omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) for four weeks could help people with COPD build muscle when they also consume protein. The researchers measured muscle protein building in 64 participants. The goal was to find a way to prevent muscle wasting, a common problem in COPD, but this was an early-stage study to test the idea, not a treatment yet.
