First seen Apr 23, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether an enzyme-based mouth spray can better relieve severe thirst in ICU patients who have a breathing tube, compared to a distilled water spray. Thirst is very common in these patients and can cause anxiety or complications. The trial will involve 76 adults, and researchers will measure thirst intensity and distress over four hours after the spray.
