New drug cocktail aims to outsmart resistant lung cancer

NCT ID NCT07671560

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This phase 4 trial tests whether combining two oral drugs—ensartinib and anlotinib—can shrink tumors or slow disease in people with ALK-positive non-small cell lung cancer that has become resistant to lorlatinib. About 80 adults with advanced (stage IIIB-IV) cancer will receive the combination daily in 21-day cycles. The main goal is to see how many patients have their tumors shrink, and researchers will also track how long it takes for the cancer to progress or for patients to live longer.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

ensartinib and anlotinib (two oral drugs)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a new treatment option for people with ALK-positive lung cancer whose disease has progressed on lorlatinib.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage exploratory analysis (80 people) and not yet recruiting. The combination may cause side effects or fail to shrink tumors in many patients.
