First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 31 times
Summary
This study looked at whether personalized, vivid future-thinking cues can help people in early recovery from alcohol use disorder choose long-term rewards over immediate ones. Fifty-eight participants who had been abstinent for 30 days to 1 year were split into high-intensity and low-intensity groups. Researchers measured changes in decision-making and brain activity to understand how future thinking supports recovery.
