E-Cig flavor ban study: what happens when menthol smokers lose their flavors?

NCT ID NCT05023096

First seen Apr 26, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study looked at how limiting e-cigarette flavors (like menthol or tobacco) changes smoking habits, toxin exposure, and addiction risk in 71 African American menthol smokers. Participants used their usual cigarettes and study-provided e-cigarettes while researchers tracked cigarette use, carbon monoxide levels, and how much they'd pay for e-cigarette puffs. The goal was to understand how flavor rules might impact health and behavior.
