Could a simple procedure help mild stroke patients recover better?

NCT ID NCT06179017

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether a procedure called endovascular treatment (EVT) can help people who have had a mild stroke caused by a blocked large artery in the brain. About 300 participants will either receive EVT plus standard medical care or standard care alone. The goal is to see if EVT leads to better recovery and fewer long-term problems.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

endovascular treatment (minimally invasive procedure to remove blood clots)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show that endovascular treatment helps more people with mild stroke recover fully, reducing long-term disability.

What could go wrong

This is a relatively early-stage trial with 300 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. Endovascular procedures carry risks like bleeding or vessel damage.
