Shocking muscles into shape: EMS may help menopausal women stay strong
NCT ID NCT07385534
First seen Feb 04, 2026 · Last updated May 04, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study tests whether adding electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) to lower-body exercises helps postmenopausal women improve muscle strength and artery health more than exercise alone. About 39 women aged 50-70 who do not currently exercise will be split into three groups: EMS plus exercise, exercise only, or no exercise. The goal is to see if EMS makes workouts more effective for preventing age-related muscle loss and stiff arteries.
