First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tests whether teaching oncology doctors, nurses, and physician assistants empathic communication skills can reduce the stigma lung cancer patients often feel during medical visits. Over 1,200 healthcare providers from across the U.S. will participate in training sessions and be evaluated using standardized patient interactions. The goal is to improve patient well-being and quality of care by making clinical encounters more supportive and less stigmatizing.
