Tapping away fear: can a simple technique calm moms before C-Section?

NCT ID NCT07156279

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) — a non-invasive tapping on acupressure points — can reduce surgical fear and improve vital signs in 60 pregnant women scheduled for cesarean delivery. Half will receive EFT before surgery, and the other half will not. Researchers will measure fear scores, heart rate, blood pressure, and newborn Apgar scores to see if EFT makes a difference.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) - a behavioral tapping intervention on acupressure points
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, non-drug way to reduce fear and stabilize vital signs during cesarean delivery.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 60 participants, so results may not apply to all pregnant women. The effect may be due to placebo or attention from the practitioner.
