Doctors test 'Smart' sedation to make emergency bone setting safer

NCT ID NCT03783494

Summary

This study tested a new way to give sedation medicine during very painful emergency procedures, like setting broken bones or fixing dislocated joints. Researchers used a computer-controlled pump to deliver the sedative propofol more precisely than the usual manual method. The goal was to find the right dose to keep patients safely sedated during the procedure and to see if this method is safe and practical in a busy emergency room.
