Can a better chat in the ER guide End-of-Life care?

NCT ID NCT06378151

Summary

This study is testing whether a structured conversation between emergency room doctors and seriously ill older patients (or their family members) can improve decision-making about starting intensive care. The goal is to see if this 'Time-Limited Trial' conversation is practical for doctors to use and acceptable to patients, helping ensure care aligns with the patient's own wishes and values. Researchers will compare outcomes for patients whose doctors use this structured conversation versus those who receive the usual care.
