Summary

This study looks at whether a self-administered technique called alternating bilateral stimulation (like moving your eyes side to side or tapping your shoulders) can lower the emotional intensity of unwanted, intrusive thoughts. Researchers will enroll 150 adults with moderate to high psychological distress from acute stress or PTSD. Participants will use the technique on their own while focusing on a distressing thought, and the study will measure changes in how upsetting and vivid the thought feels.
