Can a stronger eylea dose dry up wet AMD faster?

NCT ID NCT07434713

First seen Mar 11, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study is testing how well a higher dose (8mg) of the drug Aflibercept, also known as Eylea, works in the first two months for people with wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Researchers will measure changes in retinal fluid and vision in 50 participants. The goal is to see if this stronger dose can quickly control the disease and reduce the need for frequent injections.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Aflibercept 8mg (Eylea) injection

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show that a higher dose of Aflibercept works quickly to dry up retinal fluid and improve vision in wet AMD patients.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early observational study with only 50 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The higher dose may also carry increased risk of eye inflammation or other side effects.
