Zap your belly for better bowels? new study tests home device for spinal injury patients

NCT ID NCT06948175

Summary

This study is testing if a gentle, at-home electrical stimulation device can help people with chronic spinal cord injury have easier and faster bowel movements. Twelve participants will use a small device with sticky pads on their belly for 30 minutes before their regular bowel routine over two months. Researchers will compare how long it takes to go to the bathroom and stool consistency with and without using the device to see if it helps.
