Zapping eyes to save sight: experimental treatment for blinding disease

NCT ID NCT02086890

Summary

This study is testing whether a gentle electrical current applied to the eye can help preserve or improve vision in people with retinitis pigmentosa, a genetic eye disease that causes progressive vision loss. Researchers are measuring changes in visual field, sharpness, and contrast sensitivity in 21 participants receiving the treatment. The goal is to see if this non-invasive stimulation can slow vision decline where no proven treatment currently exists.
