Zap your way to better blood sugar? electrical muscle stimulation tested for prediabetes
NCT ID NCT06188481
Summary
This pilot study tested whether a special type of exercise training using whole-body electrical muscle stimulation (WB-EMS) could help control blood sugar in people with prediabetes. For 16 weeks, 66 sedentary adults aged 40-65 were split into groups, with one group receiving the WB-EMS sessions. Researchers compared changes in key health markers like HbA1c (a measure of average blood sugar), body composition, and quality of life to see if the electrical stimulation offered benefits beyond standard lifestyle advice.
