Zapping legs to fight ICU weakness
NCT ID NCT07188350
Summary
This study is testing if adding electrical muscle stimulation to standard physical therapy helps patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) who are on breathing machines. 150 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either standard therapy alone or standard therapy plus gentle electrical pulses to their leg muscles. The goal is to see if this extra stimulation helps patients regain muscle strength and function faster during their recovery.
