Summary
This study looks at adults aged 75 and older who come to the emergency room with a medical problem and need to be admitted to the hospital. Researchers want to see if patients who first go to a short-stay unit have different survival rates after three months compared to those admitted directly to a regular hospital ward. The goal is to find out which path is safer for older patients.
