Gentle scan could help tiniest babies breathe on their own
NCT ID NCT06609135
Summary
This study looked at whether a gentle, non-invasive scan called Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) could help doctors predict when very premature babies are ready to breathe without a ventilator. Researchers followed 20 infants born very early to see if the scan's measurements at 31 weeks could forecast their success in coming off breathing support by 32-33 weeks. The goal is to gather knowledge that could one day lead to better guidelines for managing breathing support in the NICU.
