First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tested whether using a special imaging technique (EIT) to set breathing machine pressure helps people with severe lung injury (ARDS) survive longer compared to a standard low-pressure method. Over 600 adults on breathing machines took part. The goal was to see which approach leads to more people alive at 28 days and fewer days on the ventilator.
