First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a special alert in the electronic health record can help doctors prescribe nicotine replacement therapy (like patches or gum) to hospitalized smokers and refer them for lung cancer screening. About 220 patients and their resident doctors are taking part. The goal is to see if the alert increases the number of smokers who get help quitting during their hospital stay and after discharge.
