Blood filter during heart surgery may prevent organ failure

Summary

This study tests a device called Efferon LPS that filters the blood during and shortly after heart surgery. The goal is to see if it can reduce the risk of multiple organ dysfunction syndrome, a serious complication where several organs start to fail. About 60 adults having heart surgery with a heart-lung machine will take part. The device is used once during surgery and once within 24 hours after.
